Under normal circumstances, this would be an ideal book for an adopted child to read. Im really glad I read thru the book because it would have been totally inappropriate and confusing to the child. Sorry. I was taken by surprise by the subject matter of the book. Jamie Lee Curtis' books are all entertaining and cleverly illustrated and most appropriate for children and adults to share. The last time our grandson came to visit he told us he wanted to read to his grandfather and me. I did not have a book on hand that a second grader could read, so I have bought this to keep on hand for his next visit.
